Delivering for Cook: Upgrade of Kirrawee Oval Clubroom
MEDIA RELEASE
Today, Simon Kennedy, the Federal Member for Cook, announces that, if elected, a future Liberal Government will co-invest $560,000 to upgrade Kirrawee Oval’s clubhouse and facilities. A Liberal government will invest $210,000, with Sutherland Shire Council are funding the remainder.
The club house, home to the St Patrick’s Football Club, is in much need of an upgrade, and has been identified as a priority by Sutherland Shire Council, the project’s co-sponsor. Furthermore, the building’s public amenities are only available when organised sport is taking place.
The proposed project aims to create an inclusive space that is accessible for all users as well as ensuring that public amenities are available continuously, well beyond scheduled sporting events.
The Kirrawee Oval Clubhouse is a vital resource for the local sporting community and the broader public. This upgrade is needed to ensure the facility serves the diverse needs of all who use it, from players to residents.
Mr Kennedy said, “I am dedicated to ensuring our community has access to high-quality facilities, and the upgrade of the Kirrawee Oval Clubhouse is a key part of this vision. This $560,000 investment will not only improve the clubhouse for St Patrick’s Football Club but will also create a more inclusive and accessible space for everyone. By making public amenities available beyond scheduled sporting events, we are ensuring that this important facility meets the needs of players, families, and all local residents."
Rob Bunin, President of St Patrick’s Football Club, said “Upgrading these amenities will ensure the Kirrawee Oval is a welcoming, safe, and sustainable community space. We are excited about the potential impact this project will have on the local sports community and the broader Kirrawee area, We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Simon for his invaluable support in making this project a reality. His commitment to our community has been instrumental in driving this forward.”
